Igor Lazier is a Brazilian guitarist and composer specializing in the 7-string guitar and the language of choro.
He studied with Vicente Paschoal, Luciano Lima and Cláudio Menandro, and took workshops with João Camarero, Paulo Aragão, Paulo Pedrassoli, Marcus Tardelli and Gian Correa.
In 2025 he was a finalist in the 12th Fred Schneiter National Guitar Competition at Sala Cecília Meireles in Rio de Janeiro, winning the award for best performer of Zé Paulo Becker’s work.
A career that honors deep-rooted tradition while opening its borders to contemporary dialogue.
That same year, he released Virtuoso Piston with trumpeter J.J. Simões on Acari Records. The project toured Austria, Italy, and Spain through a series of concerts and workshops.
In 2026, he released the album 7 Sentidos with Rafael Mallmith: eleven tracks, including six of Igor’s compositions, celebrating the legacy of duos such as Raphael Rabello and Dino 7 Cordas.
